Key Products and Services
In response to the evolving geopolitical dynamics and the need for supply chain resilience, the ePowertrain business of Greaves Cotton Limited has partnered with Chara Technologies and licensed its Ferrite magnet-based Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM). These motors leverage magnetic synchronisation for motion, resulting in systems that are both highly efficient and exceptionally responsive.
Our SynRM solutions are designed to serve the growing demand in passenger and cargo electric three-wheelers, as it is a compelling alternative to conventional PMSM motor technologies. Unlike PMSM motors that rely on imported Heavy Rare Earth magnets, SynRM motors utilise ferrite magnets, which are locally manufactured in India—supporting the nation’s vision for self-reliance and reducing dependency on global supply chains.
This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and strategic foresight, while reinforcing Greaves’s position as a key enabler in India’s electric mobility transformation.
In 2025, we have commissioned a state-of-the-art motor and controller manufacturing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which is equipped to support scalable production and excellence in quality.
